Why am I telling you all this? Probably because I am too pooped from running around LaLa land to write anything of substance. So, I am alive and well and thinking of you. I will leave you with a photo of me at age 14 playing the violin, and my first modeling photo from 9th grade.
The cell phone charms flash when the phone rings. I don’t expect them to make any real cash, but it teaches them how business works.I ( finally! ) put up some pics of the St Pat’s gigs Paul and I did over at Paulandlorraine.com Much fun was had by all concerned and I am really glad it only happens once a year.
I have been listening to the New Hidden Variable cd , which arrived today. It is SO close to being done!!!!! ( Chris get out here! ) Chris is a musical genieus , and this is truly a beautiful album. And Malena, I knew she was GOOD. I even knew she was REALLY GOOD, but this is amazing. I am in awe of her. Heck, I may be too shy to ever speak to her again!!!!!!! This girl doth have the voice of an angel!! ( or a weird un-dead vampire creature of the night, I have always suspected such beings could sing )

And now here. Well, not it turns out. On my excite page this morning was a great story about some scientists who want to microwave a giant squid, but it is gone now! HOW they are going to do this, well, they said they would get a Really Big Microwave. They also said they don’t want to EAT it, just de-frost it.
Go figure.

Quick post before I am off for Day #2 of the St Pats Marathon! Day #1 last night was a whole lot of fun. AND I learned a lovely fact last night about Charlie’s Pub……
The whole Pub is a wireless Hot Spot, with an open wireless network.
Doesn’t THAT open up some possibilities??????
Dan Guy??? I think we might be talking about some things. Not for this weekend, but soon…
On the cat front, Fred is fine , apparently. The vet could not find anything wrong, and on the way home he proved to me he could , uh, in fact, well that what we thought was the problem, was, uh, not a problem. Misty the poor mangeled cat was meant to have gotten her kitty dreadlocks combed out, as my last groomer did, but instead they shaved her. Badly. But on the bright side, she seems much happier without all the knots hurting her, and is as cuddly as one could wish in a cat.
Had a nice talk with Chris about the new cd, which is very very close, and it looks like he really will be coming out to record in a couple of weeks!!!!! The Hera cd of our concert is on it’s way as well, and we will be giving it a listen as soon as possible.
Send some good thoughts out for me these next couple of days! It’s going to be WILD. ( Elizabeth from Dreamhaven who was there last night, says she is coming tonight and ALL day Saturday. She may be as crazy as we are! ) And send some out to Malena who is off to shoot bad guys all weekend in a schedule every bit as mad as mine is!

Playing with Hera was wonderful fun. Thank you to everyone who came down for the show. She had a great time and can’t wait to come back. Which she is going to do, we have decided! Thanks also going out to our own Miss Kitty the tour manager ( sorry I forgot to tell you the PA stayed put before you hauled it all out while Hera and I were lazing around our changing room! ) and to Paul , for his help, and to Mark for recording.
We will get the mixed copy of the show in a few days, I think, and after we have had a chance to listen to it, we will decide on a Plan, either posting a song or two or doing up some cd’s.
All of my pictures of the show, that you haven’t seen are on another computer, so here is something completely different for you! This is Hera’s cat Brjann , with a stuffed Bat hanging above him. Only in Iceland…..( I did tell Hera, however, that she no longer wins the ” I have the weirdest looking pet” contest, since poor Misty got so mangled…)

Speaking of Paul and Lorraine, Paul and I have exciting news! We have given up trying to think of an actual band name and , with the help of Malena and the Web Elf, have set up a website! ( actually ” Help” implies Paul and I actually DID something, and it was all them, all of it! Another addition to the schedule for St Pats Day too! Being completely crazed, we have taken ANOTHER gig. This one is at a new Pub in Minneapolis that isn’t actually open yet, but received permission from the city to be open for one day. We will be playing there from Noon to 3:00pm, then off to Charlie’s from 4:00PM to 1:00AM. I don’t know the name of the Pub yet, but I know some of you like only the Minneapolis Gigs, so here is your head’s up, I’ll be adding it to the schedule as soon as I get the info , over at Paulandlorraine.com

“actress” Malena, singing her lines to remember…..
Hera is here now and we have been having more and more fun! The concert is tomorrow and I believe, having spent nearly 24 hours in each others company, that we are ready to rock. We even spent some of it practising, kid you not.
I have been showing her the sights, we went to the grocery store, took Misty-Cat to the Groomers, ( more on THAT mistake coming soon, NEVER again, she looks like something Henson’s dreamed up! or something Malena’s husband sculpted after a bad nightmare! ) and then off to the Fish Farm for Trout. And she thinks LA is going to be wild, hee-hee!
It seems to be turning into one of those friendships and musical partnerships that just sort of forms immediately and gels in to something, uh, gel-like ( ok, so I am pretty tired here ) Very like Malena she is, actually. They are both beautiful, both brilliant musically , both chocolate worshipers, both believe firmly in set lists and they both do the same kinds of goofy things.
I think they both like playing with me. I know I love playing with both of them.
I can’t wait for the show Sunday night.
I wish more than ever Malena was going to be with us.

The owners of the Water Street In, Chuck and Judy, are opening up the big room for us to play in. The pub is wonderful and cozy, but small-ish and Hera and I don’t want anyone to be turned away for lack of space, so the big room it will be. And yes, Chuck is bringing out the tables so you will have somewhere to put your drinks!
Miss Kitty from La-la will be handling the Merch end of things, and those of you who have bought things from her at previous events know it is as much fun buying from her as it is owning the things you buy! Hera, and I, will be signing things too, if you would like, after the show.
I was thinking about my bands today and recalling First Gigs. The Flash Girls played our fourth gig about three months after we formed the band. We opened for a sold out Warren Zevon show in the main room at First Ave.
With Folk UnderGround we had been together six weeks when we opened for the Tim Malloys in the Main Room at First Ave. It was our first gig.
Malena and I formed Lorraine a’ Malena, set up a website and blog, did a photo postcard, and decided on recording dates some three months BEFORE we MET. We spent a week together, where we met for the first time and then went into the studio and recorded MIRROR MIRROR. We then played our first gig a month later, with Garrison Keillor.
And now there is Hera. We meet Friday. Become a duo on Saturday. And play the gig on Sunday.
Come and see us. It’s Hera’s first time playing in the US . It’s going to be a Very fine time. ( I.e. We’re going to ROCK that House!!!!! )
( Malena would be rocking with us, for the record, if she wasn’t making a movie, alas, now THAT show might well have changed the world forever more! )
